Labels and sleeves on chemical products are subject to safety and legislative requirements that must be met. These types of products often face challenging external factors such as moisture and grease, and we often encounter atypical packaging shapes and volumes of different sizes. At Colognia press we can provide any solution for your packaging.
Products for the chemical industry are marked with a number of safety features, depending on the product type. These involve various safety pictograms and symbols on the surface (warning triangles, circles, or diamonds). Such marking usually requires more than just conventional printing. We also produce safety elements in 3D, so that they are clearly visible and tangibly embossed. This is achieved by using rotary screen printing and a special printing substance.
The primary functions of labels on packaging for chemical products are its durability and the conveyance of important information on the productís use and composition. Most often, graphic labels are used; another option is to use blank labels, intended for future imprinting in the customerís premises. Due to the large amount of information required in the message on a label, peel-off labels are a popular and frequently chosen option that solve the lack of space by printing up to 3 consecutive layers, and include the possibility of printing on the adhesive. For home-care products, the ideal solution is the shrink sleeve, which can be effectively applied to products of various unusual shapes, such as bottles, jars, or cannisters.
Peel-off labels and shrink sleeve packaging also bring great added value for marketing purposes – they add to the attractiveness of the product while maximizing use of the packaging surface in terms of graphics and content. Containers, drums, and tanks, on the other hand, require large format labels with an emphasis on durability and mechanical resistance.
Our customers use digital printing technology to print small volume batches with variable and specific data, such as number series and unique QR or EAN codes. We also offer the option of printing on flexographic printing machines for larger volumes (fast-turnaround goods, labels for barrels and tanks). The maximum print width for flexo presses is 440 mm, for digital printing it is 330 mm.
Materials for label production in the chemical industry are always selected according to the requirements and purpose of the packaging solution. Besides resistance to chemical and mechanical damage, labels often need to be able to eliminate the penetration of UV radiation into the product itself. This can be efficiently dealt with by finishing using a UV-resistant laminating film.
